My friend and I ate here for lunch while we were out exploring Biscayne National Park - it had been saved on our list as a great local place to try and so we stopped in. The restaurant is tucked into the corner of the building and very modest, and was exactly what we were looking for.
I had the shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and beans, with tostones. If we had been staying closer in the area we would definitely have been eating here every day! The food was excellent and the service was great - everyone there was very nice. If you're in the area, check it out! -

The food is delicious and the price is even better. They're a little greedy with the beans but aside from that it's a great place to take a large party and pay almost nothing to feed everyone! The seasoning is very delicious.

Finally dined in for the first time after driving but the restaurant daily. The food was soooo good. I was extremely hungry so I ordered a pastele and sorullos as appetizers. Then I had the lunch special which was bistec encebollado with rice, beans and maduros. I ate every single thing! Ana was my server, very sweet and attentive. The owner Maria even passed by and said hello to my table. Definitely made me feel welcomed. I will be a repeat guest for sure.

It's definitely a hole in the wall, but the lunch specials are excellent. We have the steak with onions and rice with gandules. A traditional PR specialty.
The place is no frills and looks a little run down, but that does not reflect on the flavor of the food.
They also have some other traditional items like coquito and pasteles.
There are not many options in Homestead, so this makes for a good choice. -

From the outside doesn't look very fancy but the inside is nice and clean. Very friendly, speak Spanish and English. Food is made fresh to order.
